It was cloudy and drizzling on the coast where we live so I headed out to the Anza-Borrego desert for an Easter morning offroad trip. I decided to explore the back portions of Fishcreek wash. You can find this wash by heading down Split Mountain Rd from Ocotillo Wells, it’s about 10 miles or so on the right hand side. Read the rest of this entry »

This little side exursion to Fish Creek Wash provides a tight and technical drive through the mud hills and bad lands behind Split Mountain. I found a number of wind caves on the walls and small canyons and trails that you can’t take your vehicle on. Again I think this is a prime area to do some exploring on foot.

Another side trip off of Fish Creek Wash. This wide open wash was really remote and looked like it sees very few people. I really need to look into the camping rules in this area cause I think this would be a great place to disappear from the world for a few days and do some exploring on foot. In the spring time like this there are a large number of blooming ocotillos out here. Read the rest of this entry »

I found this little side trail when I was exploring Fish Creek Wash . This snaking creek cuts back into the canyon wall. It starts off semi-tight but nothing like how it ends. It’s fun to cruise under walls that slope over your jeep 20 and 30 feet above your head. Read the rest of this entry »
