Sandstone Canyon in Anza-Borrego State Park
April 13th, 2007 at 01:03 am by admin in AdventuresI found this little side trail when I was exploring Fish Creek Wash . This snaking creek cuts back into the canyon wall. It starts off semi-tight but nothing like how it ends. It’s fun to cruise under walls that slope over your jeep 20 and 30 feet above your head.
Up until this point it was a pretty easy trail as far as the jeep goes, just standard things you could cross with a 2wd SUV. Now it’s getting tighter (I just love the small wheel base of the jeep, it allows you to wind and twist your way through the obstacles).
While all of this looks easy for the hard core jeep guys out there, you have to remember our little jeep is still stock, right off the lot. I was really impressed and only hit the bottom hard once. It does have the stock skid plates but I’m looking at getting beefer aftermarket skid plates and side guards. The jeep is Wendy’s daily driver so we can’t really afford for it to get killed out on our weekend jaunts.
