Thanksgiving weekend 2007 found us near Spangler / Red Mountain area just south of Ridgecrest, CA. We headed up early Thursday morning, Wendy, I and our roommate Matt with his bike. It was a 4.5 hour drive from Carlsbad but we also stopped for breakfast on the way. Some of our party had been up there since Monday with most people coming out on Wednesday.

Whenever we go off roading and Wendy wants to drive she has a hard time seeing over the hood of the jeep on technical parts. Jeep had to lower their seats to meet the airbag target requirements put forth by DOT. For someone like Wendy, who’s 5′ 1″, this made it very difficult to see and therefore navigate the tight areas found off the roadway. Read the rest of this entry »

Our roommate went out and purchased a Yamaha TTR230 ( 4 stroke motorcycle) last week so he could go out to the desert on our jeep excursions. As only his second venture into offroad motorcycling and the first time he has ridden out in the desert he did very well. Nothing like miles and miles of whoops to ruin the honeymoon
