Rocker Guards by A To Z Fabrication
March 24th, 2008 at 08:15 pm by admin in AboutAfter the Coyote Canyon run in Borrego (TDS 2008) we needed to get rocker guards to protect the sides of the jeep body. Above you can see them on the first trail we went on after installing. These were manufactured by A to Z Fabrications. Very well construction they are extremely functional as well as looking good.

Smittybilt SRC Bumper
February 23rd, 2008 at 11:45 am by admin in AboutThe stock TJ bumpers are pretty weak. I looked at some older model YJ bumpers (pre 1996) and the metal is a lot thicker and provides better protection. All the stock bumpers though are a little wide. On the road this isn’t an issue, but offroad you want the free space so you can get your tire onto the obstacle so you can climb over it. We had bent our front bumper a couple of times on the driver’s side and there were scrape marks where the passenger’s side had hit trying to get on top of some rocks the last trip to Rasor Rd. So we decided an upgrade was in order.

Ice Chest Rack
February 14th, 2008 at 02:32 pm by admin in AboutWe needed a more secure way to store our ice chest while playing out in the desert. I hadn’t been able to figure out a secure way to bungy cord down the ice chest that would allow it to withstand all the bouncing and rough treatment we give it on the trails. So we found a small rack by Olympic 4×4 that mounts through the spare tire via the mount on the tailgate.

Fog Light Modification
January 21st, 2008 at 06:24 pm by admin in AboutThe 2004 (and other years as well) have a peculiar fog light set up. The fog lights automatically shut off when you click your high beams on. For on-road operation this is acceptable, but off road it is nice to have the high beams on for distance and the fog lights on for close up lighting.

Buggy Whip
January 10th, 2008 at 05:01 pm by admin in AboutFor Glamis they require that any vehicles going into the dunes have a buggy whip. When your at the bottom of the dunes it can be near impossible for oncoming traffic to see you if you didn’t have one of the buggy whips. At night you need to have one that has a light on top. Unfortunately jeeps don’t come standard with a place to attach your buggy whip.
